JOB TITLE Network Analyst

Key Result Areas:

·        Network availability and performance.

·        Network capacity for company expansion.


·         Monitor and analyse network performance and determine whether or not any adjustments are required to improve performance.

·         Review requirements for additional users, analyse the required capacity to accommodate them and recommend the necessary network development to deliver user requirements without degradation of the current network performance.

·         Review RasGas plans for further construction and relocation of offices, analyse the required capacity to accommodate them and recommend the necessary network development to deliver user requirements without degradation of the current network performance.

·         Implement major changes, such as systems design changes, in the network.

·         Undertake the management of projects within the Network area for the development, improvement and/or expansion of the network.

·         Stay abreast of developments in network, server and data storage technology and recommend the introduction and implementation of such technology when appropriate to meeting the needs of the company.

Operating Environment, Framework and Boundaries:

·       Works in a developing environment where priorities are changing and the demand for flexibility is high.

·       Operates within a well-structured procedural environment under readily available direction from Network Specialist and Head of Section.

·       Comprehensive and detailed guidelines are available for the work performed by the Network Analyst as is close and frequent supervision.

·       As the Section and the services provided by it are growing, the objectives and activities required to achieve them are clear, but procedures are continuing to evolve.

Communications and Working Relationships:


·         Immediate supervisor and other members of the Section.

·         Communications section employees.

·         Helpdesk operatives.


·        Equipment vendor sales and technical personnel.

·        Qatar Telecommunications staff for problem-solving.

Problem Solving/Complexity:

·         The job requires the clarity and ability to resolve a wide range of technical, analytical, planning, administrative, and operational issues within the section and on behalf of users.

·         A complex issue for this role is keeping abreast of new developments trends, technology, best practices and benchmarking in the IT industry, especially with reference to networks.

·         The jobholder will need excellent communications skills as the role involves extensive interaction cross the broad range of multicultural staff of RasGas.

Decision Making Authority and Responsibility:

·        Recommends solutions required for the change/expansion of the network to meet user requirements.

·        Recommends the consideration of new technology and processes for implementation in the company.

·        Decides on technical solutions for the improvement of network service to users where the solution is within the purely technical expertise of the job-holder.

Knowledge Skills and Experience:

·       Appropriate degree from a recognised college/university in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar.

·       Vendor training in HP, Microsoft, Cisco and other hardware and applications as used by RasGas.

·       Approximately 6 years’ broad-based Information Technology experience and technical knowledge gained while working in a multi-national and preferably multi-cultural environment associated with the oil and gas industry.

·       Eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association (e.g. IEEE Computer Society, Australian Computer Society) and preferably an active member.

·       Strong analytical and planning skills.

·       Knowledge of and skills in budgeting.

·       Very good spoken and written English.

·       Presentation, influencing and high level of general interpersonal skills.
