∑ Key Result Areas
∑ Provide recommendations regarding material applications, both metallic and non-metallic, with regards to environment, manufacturing process and performance requirement, with specific emphasis on non-metallic and polymer composite materials
∑ Understand the causes of corrosion and provide corrosion reduction recommendations.
Provide direction for corrosion reduction and elimination through improved design practices, manufacturing practices, and material selection and application.
∑ Provide technical leadership regarding both mechanical and adhesive fastening technologies.
∑ Perform failure analysis on metallic and non-metallic materials utilizing internal test capabilities, the corporate materials lab and outside analysis labs.
∑ Review manufacturing process and provide recommendations regarding process improvements to improve product longeitivity, process speed and product quality.
∑ Act as primary contact between division, Materials dept and Operation group, as well as any other materials engineers throughout the company.
∑ Act as the primary contact with outside suppliers and analysis firms regarding all materials related activities.
∑ Travel as required to support new product analysis, process validation, failure investigation, or supplier qualification.
∑ Ensure effective Safety, environment and Quality policies and programs, and carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to the job as per Company policies, procedures, Management System Manual, Safety Manual and compliance with environmental protection standards and legislation.
∑ Act as the Materials focal point for all Technical issues from user department, procurement and Vendors and give the right advice.
∑ Evaluate the offers received from Procurement Section and give the recommendations in coordination with user departments.
∑ Break all the inventory items as per the departmental policy and objectives and suggest the possibility of including on supply agreements.
∑ Directs and controls the Quality Management concepts, in line with ISO 9000 Series protocol, for the Materials Department and coordinates with the Quality Assurance and Vendor Inspector on daily activates and ensure that all incoming materials are as per company and International standards.
Participate actively the ongoing Qatari National Development Program.
Operating Environment, Framework and Boundaries
The Materials Department is a major service provider to all areas of the Company in the activities of procurement, materials control and materials warehousing. The emphasis is on customer focus with the aim of providing a timely, cost effective service.
The departmental systems are SAP based and all personnel need to be familiar with these operating procedures.
Activities are carried out within a well structured environment, with a clear reporting framework.
To provide support to Project Management Materials on all Material related activities.
Provide support to OPCO for their daily material requirements for smooth operation of the running trains.
Communications and Working Relationships
Internal frequent contacts at senior levels, mainly to discuss operational matters and work priorities.
Regular internal contact with all client departments to provide information and advice on material and data base system related issues.
Daily coordination with the company Project Management Team to provide information and advice on Materials and data base system.
Establishes procedures within established Company procedures and principles. Work requires analytical, interpretative and constructive thinking, with a significant degree of evaluative judgement.Solves routine problems within the scope of approved procedures, precedent and own gained experience. Seeks advice and guidance when faced with more difficult issues.
Decision Making Authority and Responsibility
Works independently in setting up own work methods and procedures.
Makes routine decisions in accordance with Company policies and professional.
Work is reviewed regularly by the Head of Materials Control.
Knowledge Skills and Experience
Bachelorís degree in an Engineering discipline.
Minimum 8-10 years of diversified experience in the oil and gas industry in materials control, procurement and distribution using SAP.
Extensive experience in dealing with vendors, suppliers, contractors and consultants involved in the oil and gas industry.
Good exposure and experience with Quality Management concepts, e.g. ISO 9000.
Computer literacy and very good knowledge of standard office software.
Strong knowledge and experience with SAP.
Good written and verbal English skills.
Excellent Presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to work as a team member
