JOB TITLE Reservoir Simulation Engineer

Purpose of the Job

         Carries out and oversees reservoir simulation of all client's producing and developed reservoirs in terms on proper dynamic modelling, history matching, prediction, proper monitoring of reservoir performance.

         Plans and recommends production off take points and infill wells.

         Monitors reservoir health and recommends necessary actions for reservoir maintenance including injection, fracturing, stimulation.

         Provides input to proper reserves estimates and management.

Key Accountabilities


Duties and Responsibilities

         Contributes to Field Development Plans for green fields with direct control on reservoir simulation and dynamic model

         Prepares accurate and continuously updatable simulation models for all company producing reservoirs in company operated and non-operated fields.

         Monitors reservoir behaviour for all reservoirs in all producing fields and recommends and implements necessary technical and operational actions with respect to; infill drilling, well work over programs, abandonment.

         Participates and Exercises important role over reservoir simulation studies in assigned fields aimed at achieving optimal recovery of oil and gas reserves consistent with company development strategies. 

         Recommends and implements activities aimed at developing long term production/injection forecasts. Generates medium and long term production and injection rates' scenarios and initiates and implements the preparation of related field development plans. 

         Recommends and provides input to help production allocation assignments in various fields.

         Actively and effectively participates in technical meetings of joint venture companies and presents company's views on various subjects.

         Applies state of the art technology and resources and accurate input data to produce accurate high quality reservoir description for overall development and sustainability of a healthy reservoir.

         Carries out and oversees all reservoir simulation activities and outcome in all fields .

         Works independently guided by functional objectives. 

         Supervises and oversees activities by setting and controlling specialized professional standards. 


         Consults Reservoir Simulation Team Leader in Technical and Administrative issues of his team. 

         Consults peers in regular peer reviews and or Technical review meetings. 

Budget, and Expenditure

         Provides input to the Team's work program and budget and the Section and Department's Business and Operating Plans.

         Recommends expenditure within a pre-approved work program and budget and presents necessary diversions from planned work and expenditure.

Presentations and Reports

         Participates and provides input in preparation and presentation of the annual reserve report to management, identifying hydrocarbon in place, estimating recoveries and outlining possibilities of production optimization.

         Prepares reports and papers on developments and industry trends, distributing to colleagues in the Division.

Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment

         Adheres to and implements the Company's occupational safety and health and environment policy effectively in all of his work.  Evaluates the impact of all his activities on the environment by participating in the development, implementation and monitoring of a sound environment protection program.

Related Assignments

         Keeps abreast of related developments within the oil development industry.

         Work accomplishments are subject to Reservoir Simulation Team Leader's review.


Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

         B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences or equivalent.


         +10 years' varied experience in the oil industry, including technical hands on experience in reservoir simulation, modeling, and/or reservoir management.

         Works well and leads multi-disciplined team of professional engineers and Geoscientists within the petroleum development function.

Job specific skills & competencies:

         Fluency in English

         Proficient in computer application in his field.


Internal & External Contacts:



         Continuous contacts with all peers in Petroleum Engineering and Development Department. Close contacts with Colleagues in Exploration and other Departments (Exploration, Production, Engineering and Facilities, Planning and Evaluation) to coordinate development work programs and monitoring of operational matters


         Regular contacts with Partners' representatives to provide field development information and advice.  Frequent contacts with service contractors, suppliers and vendors to provide clarification on Company requirements negotiate contracts and quality assurance.  Occasional contacts with representatives of other oil producing companies in the region to exchange information of mutual interest.

Problem Solving & Decision Making

         Carries out and ensure quality and integrity of all reservoir simulation models and provides input for proper reservoir management.

         Oversees and monitors all reservoir performance and recommends proper actions for optimum recovery.

         Uses objective judgment and discretion for urgent matters that require immediate actions.

         Responsible for all outcomes and results of reservoir simulation.
